Our 7B common base fan arrangement was first introduced to one of our repeat customers in 1999 as a value added solution aimed at reducing construction costs. The project consisted of 15 identical fans for a new aluminum smelter in Quebec. The benefits of supplying our 7B common base fans at a relatively small additional cost far surpassed our customer's expectations in the reduction of site construction costs.
For the Smelter in Iceland, we have taken pre-assembly to a whole new level and have set a new standard in providing pre-packaged equipment, saving time and money related to onsite construction. This was of utmost importance to the end user given the harsh Icelandic climate, the logistics, the high cost of man power and the impact of the smelter construction on the fragile environment.
Today, TLT CO-VENT is considering similar special arrangement fans for upcoming aluminum smelter projects which are often built in remote areas where construction costs can be high and climatic conditions are not ideal.
